Isaac Obez is the Lead Data Engineer at XeoMatrix, bringing two decades of software development experience, including ten years specializing in data engineering, data infrastructure, and technical team building. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Seattle University and an Associate’s degree from Seattle Central Community College.
Isaac spent nearly 13 years at Tableau as a Software Engineer and Data Engineer, where he played a key role in developing scalable data systems. He also worked at Starburst on the Apache Trino platform, further deepening his expertise in modern data architectures. His technical skill set includes Python development, SQL, large-scale data engineering, Tableau BI and Server, modern table formats such as Iceberg and Hive, and orchestration tools including Airflow and Dagster.
At XeoMatrix, Isaac leads the Data Services team with a focus on building high-quality analytics platforms for clients. His team helps organizations centralize data into warehouses or data lakes, develop robust data infrastructure, and deliver reliable business analytics that empower better decision-making and support long-term Business Intelligence strategies.
Outside of work, Isaac can often be found gardening at his local community garden, riding bicycles, blacksmithing at one of Seattle’s forges, cooking, camping throughout the Pacific Northwest, or traveling. He is also an active community volunteer, supporting local food banks, serving as a garden lead in his community garden, and acting as a sustainability steward for Seattle Tilth.
