That’s why we were excited to sponsor and support the recent Tableau State of Texas Application Day, an in-person event focused on Tableau training for government and growing analytics skills within state and local agencies.
Hands-On Learning with Tableau
Hosted by Tableau’s Sr. Analytics Specialist, Dawn Swainston, the event brought together more than 70 government professionals for a full day of interactive learning. Many participants were brand new to Tableau, and the session served as a practical introduction to the platform. The participants also heard from Jeremy Gardner, a data executive from TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation), who demonstrated and explained how they conduct their reporting and analysis in Tableau.
Throughout the day, attendees:
- Loaded data and navigated Tableau for the first time
- Built visualizations and created dashboards from scratch
- Worked on real-world projects with live 1:1 coaching and feedback
Supporting Attendees Every Step of the Way
As part of our commitment to helping others succeed with Tableau, two XeoMatrix team members, Peyton Moore and Celia Fryar, were on-site providing technical support and guidance. Whether attendees needed help troubleshooting a dataset or building a dashboard layout, Peyton and Celia were there to lend a hand.
The day also included a screening of the Iron Viz Championship during lunch, which offered a fun and inspiring look at advanced Tableau capabilities.
In the afternoon, participants received their first look at TableauNext and the new Concierge analytics agent, sparking ideas on how AI could shape future analytics work.
